Chic in my white tee
hite tee’s are versatile, they’re perfect for layering, and like a white wall, your possibilities with this are endless. It’s not new news that a soft basic (white) tee is a classic staple must have in your closet. I love a good day to night and vice versa transition in my outfit, and a simple piece like this gives you range. Rarely do I frequent jeans, and although the mom jean and tee look is chic— the endless ways you can pair a simple, white tee deserves more recognition. So here’s a style tip— the fabric of your tee can drastically change your outfit— whenever I find one with pockets, a different neck line, or the fabric is thicker, i’ll add it to my collection. I find myself grabbing these way more often than anything else in my closet so hoarding a few good ones are essential. Here’s my take on ways to make a white tee minimally basic.
I like my white tee’s a little loose for fit so I purchase a size or two up. Whether you’re tucking it in, tying a knot, or wearing it off the shoulder the key is “a little more stretch” wins here. I like to pair a white tee with a sleek business pant to soften the stiffness of pant lines. Make it feminine an add an oversized cardigan. Make it boss and pair it with a fitted blazer. Add color here to dominate the conversation. Women wear the pants. Insert wink face here. High waist pant preferred because we have no business trying to show our belly button over here. I frequently will throw a white tee over a fitted dress to play safe when something feels skin tight. Play with the mind, or the eyes and try not give all the goods away, you know? The more loose fitting the tee is will give balance to a skin hugging dress. Want to flirt? Move a low scoop to the shoulder and make it an “off the shoulder.” I’m telling you, skip the cleavage reveal and opt for a shoulder peek. It’s a stuble move, but a cheeky one.
Tuck it into a leather skirt and suddenly you went from night time to daytime appropriate. Add my go to red lipstick (click here to find out) and instantly your daytime went to playtime. Insert devil emoji face here. This combo will get you kissed on a night out—that is, if you’re looking for that kind of trouble. If not, add sheer tights if you’re looking for a compromise between cold and sexy because we know Lillienne does not do winter. A favourite of mine is taking that sexy, lace slip dress into “first date appropriate” by layering the tee over— How else is he supposed to swoon over you? I’m kidding. Sort of. Personality. Right.
So. Many. Possibilities.

I hope you’re a little more inspired to try a different look when you’re staring at your white tee. Opt for TENCEL from Reformation if you want to be equally stylish & environmentally friendly. The classic tee doesn’t have to be basic & you can always spice it up with a fun lipstick. If there’s any outfit style you’d love for me to share my take on, please comment below.
